Where is Australian opal found

In prehistoric time a part of Australia was covered by a large inland sea covering some of South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. It is at edge of that old inland sea, that opals is formed. Main Opal fields include Coober Pedy, Mintabie and Andamooka in south Australia White Cliffs and Lightning Ridge in New South Wales and a huge area in Queensland from Cunnamulla in the south to Longreach in the north.
